- Avoid going there, even if it's beautiful, you will be annoyed by locals, non stop. Seriously.ApeRobot

Regarding ApeRobot's comment.
I'm not sure why he/she even bothered travelling to Morocco if they weren't prepared to meet the locals? The night market in intense and not for the faint of heart but an open mind and a sincere attitude towards their culture and you'll be laughing with the locals in no time.
Marrakesh's Medina is poor and the locals there rely on foreign tourist to keep them afloat. Be polite but firm "it's the culture" and everything will be fine. Bartering is also a must! when you see something you in the Souks ask how much? take that number and cut it in half and you will politely meet in the middle. Don't be a dick and barter them down so low that you insult them, just remember that their currency the dirham is worth considerably less than your currency.
Couple other tips:
- Taking pictures of people will generally result in them asking for money which 10 diram is an appropriate amount.- Women should be covered as must as possible. I'm not saying burka however if your girl walks around looking like she's on the beaches of Miami you will get some weird looks.
- Henna ladies - be weary. there are woman who roam the streets asking to put henna on your lady friend. BE FIRM or the will grab your arm and start the process before you can blink. The cops don't like these ladies since they scare the shit out of tourist so don't be afraid to say NO!!
- Explore the Medina, get lost in the maze. If you do get lost carry a card of your Riad on you and pay a local boy to take you back. Negotiate the price before hand. 30 - 40 diram will make the kids day!

You didn't get my point apparently.
Have a nice trip anyway.

Only one thing to add to elDoctor’s advice –
I brought a cheap little compass which was really handy for navigating the streets of Fez and parts of Marrakech.
Enjoy your trip!
