""We looked at the format and felt it was very misaligned with the way that we work with clients," said Doug Scott, president of Ogilvy Entertainment. "We didn't feel that the pitch was staying true to the process in which our [industry] works. What we were presented format-wise felt forced to be a dramatic competition, in a soft-scripted manner, vs. a more natural way that agencies work with clients and how a campaign is born."
Made me proud to work at Ogilvy.

SO GOOD.
ALL THOSE AGENCIES SUCK.

I firmly believe that many of the agencies that declined to be on "The Pitch" were afraid of: failure, looking stupid and or being exposed as fraudulent creative agnecies in general. A vast majority of the largest and best known agencies produce nothing more than "smoke and mirrors" in my option.
- nicely summed up, fear of being exposed for not being as effective as one might thinkattentionspan

Wasn't there supposed to be a graphic design reality show?

I love how the SK+G pitch involved QR codes. So viral!
- QR codes are fucking fail most of the times. Yeah, put in back of the buss. BRILLIANT!akrok

I think this show is very good, alot of it feels very real. I loved the whole showing the food issues which creatives went through, this is hell anyway, finding a new way to do this, very few ways of doing it right - pleasing the customers, the clients, the cd's and at last having some "creative" integrity.
One thing i don't understand how wrongly the experienced cd's from mckinley acted, these people should have years of experience yet they react like empty bitter addicts, only looking to score that client.
One thing that feels staged is the announcment of winners. Maybe i have limited experience in this field, but it never works this way, you usually have to wait for days of weeks before the client makes the final decision.
This makes me think that the client has already made his choice before the presentation even begins. Also makes me think if the presented campaign of mckinley will ever see the day, or will there be something completely new, tested, safe and secure.

- Typically by the time an RFP is won and the campaign is out. The idea is wasted away.rson

The only way to get fast approvals from clients is to go on this TV show.

Agree... when was the last time your client announced you won the pitch American Idol style? Sometimes they call you months later, and if you didn't get it, some of them won't even call again....

This show is such a gamble. Really depends on how it is cut to show the agency. And wether you risk fucking up or have your shit analyzed on a large level of discussion and forums where usually the clients will just ask family and friends if they suck at their jobs and cant decide for themselves. Really like playing russian roulette. Am curious to see the negative/positive impact on agencies part of of the show. Im sure some dickhole clients will like to say there agency was on tv vs quality of work and such.

I can't imagine a big agency on the show. It's really for small mom and pops and sub-par clients.

Agencies that are desperate for some free exposure and companies that are desperate for some free PR.
As Cenk Uygur would yell, "OF COOOUUURRSE!!"
- How is SK+G small they have 120+ employees i think?attentionspan
- Then Cenk would say something was 'ironic'.dopepope

That bold creative director was such a dick and overrated himself BIGTIME.

"Trash Can" was such a good idea with more impact and "legs to run," much better than the winning direction. Too bad they couldn't pitch it better.
- yeah, they lacked the creative tech scope i think. Too old schoolliveforever
- Hey mono did you use Gill Sans or Myriad in that Powerpoint presentation?utopian
- the ask for the social networking was pointless, in my opinion, and could have been integrated latermonospaced
- I wanted to stick with Helvetica, the way I typed it on screen (black and white) but the "creatives" fucked it all up.monospaced

The arrogant, smug "best in the world" advertising agency lost once again... I smell a trend here.
- FawnDog0
Near the end of this episode they showed the ad for the agency that won...ummm....SPOILER ALERT !
