There isn't a GitHub Page hosted here, sorry.

Good for styling up a CMS but wouldn't use it for a front end.
- kingsteven0
Started using it when i noticed stew using it on chatttr. i've been building all my cms with it - once you learn the basic classes you can knock out pages in minutes...
there are a few annoyances - like how it indents forms, and until you get a feel for how they've set up the grid it can be a bit annoying to hack. you'd probably be better using a more stripped back framework for front-end (like 960.gs or Skeleton), or write yr own.

Why is it not good for the front end? Not enough control?
- Too much styling you would have to modify to make it your own.animatedgif

I have to jump in and clear up some confusion—I’m using Bootstrap.js from Jürg Lehni which he first launched in 2006. It’s like jQuery, but much more elegant. So anything you would use jQuery for, you could instead use Bootstrap for. (And it does more as well, but I’ll just leave it at that.)
Here’s the direct link to Jürg’s “Bootstrap.js” on GitHub:
https://github.com/lehni/bootstr…In August of last year Twitter released a framework that was also named Bootstrap. I’ve never touched this and don’t plan to. The name overlap is unfortunate to put it mildly.

So its great for elegant jquery... but not good as a front end as a whole.
- Confusing.
The Bootstrap in this thread is different to the Bootstrap.js stewdio usesanimatedgif
- Confusing.

Not sure what part wouldn't be good for front end development. The CSS and HTML is quite clean and it takes a lot of the annoying busywork out of rapid development (styling buttons, scaffolding, etc...).

I think it's good to roll your own CMS layouts. I'm going to use for the first time for that in a project now.

@aaux, my point was if you want to ship something that has it's own styling them Bootstrap is a waste of time because you'll spend more time stripping things out and changing them than it would take to write from scratch.
Better off just getting a CSS grid framework and styling buttons/forms yourself.
Unless you don't really care about how it looks in which case go for it.

Oops sorry got a bit mixed up there...
But aye as animatedgif sez... it's going to harder to customise bootstrap to build a specific design than just creating the css from scratch or by using a more basic css framework. however, if you don't know how to build your own, bootstrap is a great example of how to do it well. So, it's worth a look.

- LOL!
Tables are too clean, though; in those day, it was still about the bevelled borders, Netscape-style.Continuity - ... style.Continuity

You can customize Bootstrap BEFORE you even download it and choose not to use anything but the grid and responsive framework. Just using those things alone is way faster than starting a responsive site from scratch. Plus it’s easy as pie to over-ride the base styles even if you just download the default configuration.

Just like anything else, Twitter Bootstrap has its place.
For example, if you're working on any sort of web app, whipping the front end together with a raw Bootstrap implementation, shipping those files off to your PHP developers whilst you refine the overall look-and-feel makes total sense to me.
On the other hand, I probably wouldn't use it on any sort of showpiece meant to be shopped around the awards festivals. As a framework, it just seems a lot more suited to platforms and portals, rather than experiential websites.

"We can't do that because of Bootstrap"

dont know this but tooltip doesnt work correctly, http://twitter.github.com/bootst…

- maybe good for sketchingi_was
- It's kind of like Wordpress in that way. You know a Bootstrap site without even having to look at the source code.Continuity
- yes wp effect.i_was

It's nice for prototyping. Though frankly I prefer Foundation (http://foundation.zurb.com/) to Bootstrap.
- I was looking at it the other day. All the class names look pretty cumbersome, though.Continuity

I found for what this is 100% good: making a pretty website for your new girl friend ;)
