A couple questions, but first a little background. A couple friends of mine are starting a food business and are looking to brand themselves with the steampunk style. I'm helping them, but on a very simple level. Mostly offering an outside perspective and some design advice.
Does anyone know if brands that successfully use the steampunk style? I'm not too familiar with this aesthetic but I guess it's trending.
They're also set on using an engraving aesthetic, which makes sense, but seems like a fucking bear. Is there way of pulling this off or should they be hiring an artist?

'... I guess it's trending.'
^ Not really. It's kind of a response to 80s cypberpunk, and more or less took off in serious force when William Gibson and Bruce Sterling wrote 'The Difference Engine'. Reached it height of quasi-popularity a couple of years ago, though some more hardcore rivetheads (industrial music fans) and cosplayers still hang on for dear life ...

What does 'food business' mean? Restaurant, Catering, Farming, Grocery? Just trying to get a picture of this :)

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if it's indeed steampunk they are going for. The business is food truck/trailer and sketches I've seen of their logo ideas involve their food trailer being supported by an airship/aerostats whatever you like to call it.
- they probably just want vintage ('50s) or something and can't articulate itmonospaced

I guess if you're looking for some visual cues, then go for a Victorian look, but with a more contemporary style.

Some steampunk illustrations are cool. But the physical objects and especially the fashions make me think those people are terrible at sex.

some coffee places come close with all their grinders/roasters/espresso machines on display, industrial interior decorations like big lights and old chairs. i don't see any of that reflected in the printed pieces though.
