Roughly, how long does it take to complete (design) an Annual Report?

i've worked on some that were less than 10 pages, others that were over a hundred. some that were presenting text only, others that were full of charts, graphs, photos etc...

depends on content and length.

Just sent one to print that has been in the studio on and off since October. It was over 250 pages in the end, a beast.

whoah Jimbo.
This one is about 60-75 pages. Charts, photos, graphs the whole 9. I think that I did the wrong thing by having them send me text "piecemeal." I should have had them hand me the document and electronic document as well on a specific date. They wanted a 2 wk turn around time which is insane. It's been 3 wks now and the pressure is coming down on me although content isn't final... but I'm doing the best I can.
Just wondering how much I should push back. I LOVE this client, don't want to lose them and want to shine on this AR but certainly feeling pressure on my neck because they need it yesterday.

I would guess that could be a 1-2month project, are you solo on it?
- Yeah, all by myself on this one. Though it might be my fault for not letting them know at an AR takes a good while to produce. It was my job to let them know, but I wanted to seem like a super hero I guess. + I lost my job when it came through so I couldn't turn it down though the timeline was super tight.

From my experience these things take months depending on what state the copy is in. Most of the time the client will want to make changes to the copy after they have seen it on the page on a rolling basis.
- that's whats happening to me with a client, it's been a month and a half and it's all text changes.... :/k_temp
- i hear you. good luck with your project too.ohhhhhsnap

You're right, you should have insisted on a single document, near final, on a set date. Leaving it open is almost begging for missed deadlines and tons of revision headaches. I hope you're charging hourly and they know it.
- anyway, should normally take 3 weeks or so with some tweaksmonospaced
- i actually gave them a cap. almost there though. however... good to know the process now. tx!ohhhhhsnap

Two weeks on solo? U r super! I should hire u whenever I get AR :). I've done some they usually took 3 months to complete, mostly over 180 pages with English - Arabic back to back, matching lay outs & fonts...nightmares! Good luck finishing it.

Well it took me like 3 weeks to do a 45 pages AR, but it was simple with 1 big chart and few tables. It was spanish/english, text was written by my friend (whom im working with) but they rewrote the whole fucking thing, easy for me to just flow it again.
Problem has been the client, since the "Final" we've been back and forth for almost 2 months with changes on the text, they are changing what they changed. :| And they cant decide on something.
I did a previous one, same length but had more tables and charts and that was also btw 3 weeks and a month to design.

Include 3 rounds of revisions in your cost, anything after that charge. Also charge for AA's that were missed.
- hard to do that when you're totally in love and their work + their NGO... but it was good to vent here and hear your thoughts.ohhhhhsnap
- wow... my last comment made no sense (totally working much too hard over here) but i'm sure you got me.ohhhhhsnap

one person working on it in NZ is pretty common. 2-3 weeks should be heaps. warning! there are always heaps of changes as it goes through a lot of people accountants, lawyers and managers. as the deadline is inflexible you will probably have some late nights and get a bit stressed at the end. But do a simple idea and it should all be pretty.
good luck to you.- thanks sothere, yeah i'm feeling the stress. but it'll all work out. thanks for the good wishes my friend.ohhhhhsnap
