What does a foundry charge for a custom font?
Thanks

I think he means to create one from scratch - just for you.
10 years ago I paid $1K for custom kerning tables and slight modifications to letterforms based on an existing font - for a client.
The price you get will vary wildly from foundry to foundry. and wether you want exclusive rights.

H&FJ gets anywhere between 20-75k for a font family.

Makes sense considering what goes into building a typeface. Hundreds (if not thousands) of glyphs to create and have work together perfectly. This involves tons of testing and revisions.

- er, they have one you can do based on your handwriting, not really 'custom' iunnodoesnotexist

What if an illustrator is not technically an typographer.. but was asked to create an entire family - what do you think you could charge?
- I would expect a shitty font at an unreasonable pricemonospaced

Have the "company" make an offer.
