Any beef or praise using opencart?

BUMP...we've been asked to build a store using Opencart. Anyone with opinions?
Is it possible to completely customise the Admin area? ie totally re-brand it.

it sucks for seo... even the home page in the default themes results in a canonical (duplicate) page
opencart takes 10 times the effort of magento or wordpress to rank

OpenCart 2 looks a lot better, the v1.x was rough around the edges. Any reason as to why they are looking at Opencart vs other options like Woocommerce or Magento?

I find any ecommerce solution has to have a good and reliable hosting set-up. Installing them in shared hosting environments is the big mistake.
Magento is great, mostly in catalog administration, bulk import data but you need a dedicated server. Downside is the expensive cost of customize it.
Opencart looks ok, my test experience was trying to install it in a shared hosting (quickinstall) and it was really slow. I dont know I feel like I am using Joomla for some reason.
Woocommerce is really good to customize the front end, low cost extensions but is hard to bulk import data for a big catalog, and it could be realy slow if you dont optimize wordpress. I love wordpress multisite feature that allows you to have several dedicated stores in a single install.

Tough to find affordable developers... ASP has it's limitations. I think HostGator might have an all-in-one develop/maintenance package.
