I was doing animations in flash and it was awesome while it lasted, this was back in version 3 or 4, when people would pay me money for an obnoxious animation that said something like "welcome to my site".
Flash began to become more popular and complex, featuring dynamic content and stuff like that, there was no reason to use flash for the animation side alone, you needed to know code and make it usable or it was lame.
So I started doing motion on after effects for infomercials in the motocross industry. REALLY LAME stuff, but because I came from print, my use of typography made it look competitive enough. I started liking after effects more and more, and soon I was no longer needed.
Then I started learning camera layer... GOOD BYE FLASH. SEE YOU NEVER.
hahaha
But now, I do very little stuff for tv, most of the animations I do, end up in websites, just like i did when I first started, so the industry changed a bit, but then it came back to the same thing.
Do it. You'll get good money for it, and no code needed (you could do scripts in After Effects, but If I have to look at code to make something move, then it's no longer fun, I like the visual aspect of placing everything on a scene and move it around manually)
:)
