Geico was, by far, the cheapest I've had. Then I got two tickets and they dropped me. All State was close, but still 30-50% more.

Admiral for multicar policies.

I've had Progressive ever since getting kicked off my parents insurance for to many tickets as a teenager. A few decades later and I still have them. Cheap and reliable but I can't stand their spokeswoman Flo.
If I had to pick a company based on their mascot it would definitely be Geico and the Gecko

find some local insurance company that doesn't run nationally syndicated ads. They'll be your cheapest. I'll put my rear-end on it.

I had Geico for about 12 years, I just picked up Erie Insurance. Erie saved me $500- a year with better coverage than Geico.

Geico in 2000 A.D.
"You can save up to 30% on your car insurance..."Geico in 2007 A.D.
"You can save up to 20% on your car insurance..."Geico in 2010 A.D.
"You can save up to 15% on your car insurance..."I guess someone has to pay for their marketing budget....

If you plan to modify your car or are getting a sporty number then always best to go to a performance specialist.
In the UK, most of the mainstream insurance companies will only allow you three modifications - e.g alloys, air filter, exhaust.
Anything beyond that is beyond them as they will be working to a pre-determined checklist.
A performance/sports specialist will understand all the mods and quote accordingly.
- That is what I do and I am amazed every year how little I pay for a performance Hot Hatch nocking over 250Bhp, hahahapillhead

Geico has lost a lot of money on me, and they never dropped me.
All my claims happened when my car was parked on the street.
My honda was vandalized, somebody smashed 3 windows and dented a quarter panel for some reason when I parked it in Wicker Park one night some years ago... and my rates didn't go up.
Then, one snowy day I walked out of the office and saw my honda with the back smashed in like an accordian and a police report taped to the front window, it seems a cab had hit it in the snow.... Geico sued the cab company's insurance company and I got $2000 for a car probably worth $1500 in need of at least $500 in repairs....
and my rates didn't go up....
My Acura was stolen twice, the first time 1 window was smashed and the thieves tore apart the dashboard to steal the radio, then they drove it over some curbs and messed up the suspension and illegally parked it in a grocery store parking lot... I called the cops every day for 3 weeks while geico covered my rental car and finally got my car back, all smashed up, and a towing/storage fee of $450, which geico covered(!).... and covered $1200 in repairs...
and my rates didn't go up
then I made the mistake of switching to only liability insurance, as my acura was old, and low-and-behold, it was stolen again, but this time I didn't have any comprehensive coverage and had to eat the cost myself, I got it back trashed again, but too bad for my stupidity...
