it's from the 18th century by the way. so no, they probably don't have copyright on it. google Fleur-de-lis if you want to read more about it.

that will teach me to scan wikipedia...
"Decorative ornaments that resemble the fleur-de-lis have appeared in artwork from the earliest human civilizations. According to Pierre-Augustin Boissier de Sauvages, an 18th century French naturalist and lexicographer...."

So no copyright even though it was created from scratch?

hahaha that's ridiculous. The fleur-de-lis has been around as a symbol of royalty since at least the 12th century... good luck defending that (C).

quelle imbécile,
la fleur de lis existe depuis des centaines d’années...

Yes, I know there a bazillion versions of the Fleur de Lis around. But if you create your own version, can you claim copyright on that particular graphic?
- ribit0
You could claim copyright in your particular variation of it. But what are they actually trying to stop you doing?
- BusterBoy0
Apparently a miniaturised version of this graphic was used in another site as a bullet.
- ribit0
So I guess you will have to do another variation of it?
