iPad buttons - gradient bkgnds

  Do custom gradient backgrounds inside nav buttons cause issues in iPad/iPhone app development?

  More specifically, I'm looking to use variable width buttons (based on nav item name) on the main nav. In my mind, as long as I don't stretch them vertically the gradient should hold correct?

  Or is there more to this process that creates issues?
