7 years ago my gf was killed by a drunk driver.
At least you didnt kill anyone. There's that.

Sucks man, that's shit luck.
Still sounds like you should have blown lower. My first (and only) breathalyzer test given to me was after two pints and shot over about an hour. I blew a .045ish and I only weigh 145lbs.
Anyway, about the only thing I can offer is to suck it up, it'll pass. I know a girl that got a DUI about two years ago, not long after she bought her house. She's done with everything now, fines etc. Has maintained steady employment, moved up in positions, and just finished remodeling part of her attic into a her master bedroom. It hurt her a bit financially, but she never missed a beat continuing to enjoy her life.

The best bet is a lawyer. Yah, it's expensive, but worth it. You may even get the charge dropped, since you only blew a marginal amount over. The lawyer will certainly look at that and try to argue that the machine may not have been calibrated recently.
- he failed the field test though before blowing over the limit. then blew over again at the station.sine

^ Shit luck? Lol, the dude was drinking and driving and got caught. The way I see it he was lucky he got caught before he hit someone. There are few things dumber a human can do outside of driving drunk. You have to be a fucking tart to even think about doing it. Im just a firm believer that if you've done it before then you arent really the brightest person in the world, I dont care what you think about yourself, you're just an idiot, simple as that.
And it's a total douchebag move trying to get out of something like this. Trying to cheat the test, get lesser fines. Someone that does that really needs a good ass kicking along with the fines and license suspension.

your lucky you didn't kill yourself or some innocent passer by...

^ no, it's a waste of your money. First time offenders get a slap on the wrist, you'll waste at least 1K on it.
You're not going to win this case with a lawyer, you blew what you blew and that's that.

That happened to me a over 7 years ago now. It's a real pain. I also blew barely over the limit but only after they held me there for 30 minutes waiting for a breathalyzer, then a blood test. When I got a lawyer and based on the timing of how much and when I was drinking, the courts later determined that they couldn't really tell if I was actually drunk when I was driving. (I only had one drink, but im a small girl so I guess that's enough). And, the cop that pulled me over did so because I almost hit him baking up out of a parking space, but he didn't have his headlines on at night in a dark lot with no lights in it. So I guess I was really really lucky, and getting a lawyer to guide me through it really helped. It costed me about $1500 but I did not have a suspended license and it went down on my record as a "wet reckless" instead of a DUI. It did not effect my car insurance costs.
But unfortunately, there is no such thing as a wet reckless in Canada, so now that the mark on my record is over 5 years old, I have to go to the Canadian consulate and pay $1000 to be able to cross the border freely without issues and without special visas. My misdemeanor translated over as a felony over there. So, depending on what countries you travel to often, there may be a ripple of records you have to pay to clear -- considering you don't rack up any more offenses.
Sorry bro -- holiday weekends are the worst time to risk it.

the only difference between you and the ones giving you a hard time is they havent gotten caught yet.
I hope you FRY!
i havent gotten caught yet either (in the states)i think most of us here have driven with atleast a light buzz just to get home. i drove drunk once like 20 years ago when i was young, it was on a scooter rental in cancun and it was like 3:am on an empty road, i was drivng like a fool doing jumps off of curbs and crap. i did get busted but it only costed me like 20 bucks.

No need for you porkchops to get all high and mighty on the internet. You're all guilty of something.
Happy New Year!

I never drank and drove before. But I had some out of towner DJs for one of my parties, when the party unexpectedly got shut down by the cops. I had to drive the DJs to the back up space. I had no choice. I also didn't know I was fucked up til I was midway into driving. I was probably lucky that nothing happened. And it all ended up having a happy ending.

do you guys know that in many countries in latin america(and im sure other places too) there are like liquor store/bar drive throughs?

Also, here in the states, the cops have these number recognition cameras in their cars that automatically capture and run your plate to check for warrants, stolen vehicles, or 'history' of D.U.I.'s. They drive through parking lots/garages and just let it do it's thing, looking for stolen cars. A buddy of mine got a DUI two years ago, and he's constantly getting pulled over now, to have his 'papers checked'. They know he's got a history, so they always pull him over when they get near him... his tag will beep the cops' computer. This is why they will catch you if you're driving around with revocation or suspension in place.
Count your blessings... it could've been much worse.
- You can sue actually if they have no probable cause for anything. They have to have a reason to pull you over in which you are doing something wrong.mg33

This is one of the many reasons I live in a city where I don't need a car. Not that you aren't guilty of something but driving is one of the shittiest deals possible. Cops. Insurance, DMV.
I'm sticking with the bike I bought on Craig's List.

I used to be terrified in high school of getting pulled over late at night if I'd been at a party. Hell, I was terrified even if wasn't driving! The cops in our town were all ex-failed football players, total cowboy assholes. This was in the country sort of, Ft. Worth TX suburbs.
So, had a great little trick at parties: would grab a bottled or canned beer, pour it out in the bathroom, and fill it with water. Would then just act like a fool all night as if I were drunk. If I wasn't driving myself Id maybe have one or two beers, and water after that. I just never wanted to get pulled over and be nervous, scared, etc. Always hoped I'd get pulled over and asked if I had been drinking so I could half-sarcastically say "no, that's against the law, why would I be doing that?"
- You missed out on a lot of fun.boobs
- I remember my first high school party. I had to drive all the way across town (15 mi.). Had half a beer can...waterhouse
- My whole drive home I was terrified. (Am I drunk? I feel funny! Shit! I'm drunk!)waterhouse
- Didn't miss out on anything. Just only drank when we weren't leaving the place, like at friends houses.mg33

- I would advice you to get rid of the evidences.
- If you still have a car by now, park it at least 2 miles from your home,
and declare it stolen. don't worry it isn't :P (wink, wink)
