It's weird if you think about it. Guys keep their hair short, but girls let theirs grow. (99% of the time).
All around the world.
Anyone know the real reason?
- cruddlebub0
so there are no men with long hair or women with short hair anywhere in the world??
- Yes, 1% of the world population. #notintendedtobeafac...ORAZAL

Wasn't always the case. Trends, fashion and all that...
Just like the colour pink was once a masculine colour.

"For much of human history, both men and women had long hair, and men usually had long beards as well. In the 4th century BC Alexander the Great of Macedonia had his soldiers wear short hair and shave off their beards, so that their ememies couldn't grab their hair or beards in battle. The Romans were the first culture where all the men generally wore their hair short and shaved their beards, again for military reasons. After Rome conquered most of Europe and the Mediterranean, short hair came to be associated with what Rome stood for: civilization, "law and order", loyalty to the state, conservatism, military discipline, etc. Long hair was associated with barbarians, women, "effeminate" greek philosophers and wimpy romantics. The Roman senate took a dim view of emperors like Hadrian who "went Greek" by wearing a beard and longer hair.
When the germanic "barbarian" tribes overran the West in the 5th century AD, many of them were already partly Romanized -- i.e. they had converted to Christianity, served in the Roman army and learned to appreciate Roman culture. Although many continued to wear their hair long, the idea of men's short hair standing for civilization, law and discipline was preserved, and has continued to the present day."

Aquatic ape hypothesisMorgan first became drawn into scientific writing when reading popularizers of the savannah hypothesis of human evolution such as Desmond Morris. She described her reaction as one of irritation because the explanations were largely male-centered. For instance, she thought that if humans lost their hair because they needed to sweat while chasing game on the savannah that did not explain why women should also lose their hair as, according to the savannah hypothesis, they would be looking after the children. On re-reading Desmond Morris's The Naked Ape she encountered a reference to a hypothesis that humans had for a time gone through a water phase, the so-called aquatic ape hypothesis. She contacted Morris on this and he directed her to Alister Hardy. Her first book The Descent of Woman (1972) was originally planned to pave the way for Hardy's more academic book, but Hardy never published his book. Morgan's first publication was mentioned by E. O. Wilson in 1975, comparing it to other 'advocacy approaches' such as The Imperial Animal[8] as an 'inevitable feminist' counter, but describing the method as less scientific than other contemporary hypotheses.[9] She accepted this criticism and so her later books were written on more scientific basis or more "po-faced" as she herself described it. As an outsider and a non-scientist she claims to have encountered hostility from academics. Consequently many of her books seem to be written as much to counter the many arguments put forth against the Aquatic Ape Theory as to advance its merits. Her position is summarised in her website.[10] The story of Morgan's quest to have the aquatic ape hypothesis taken seriously was chronicled in the 1998 BBC documentary "The Aquatic Ape".

I was thinking yesterday how it's funny that going bald is associated with men. Do omen go bald just as much but instantly cover it with a wig or do men really bald so much more?
It's acceptable for a man to walk around with a partially or completely bald head but not kso for a women.

- You can possibly be this dumb. You've never heard of male pattern baldness? Jesus.CygnusZero4

- There is such a thing, but it's more acceptable for women to wear wigs or other hair accessories so it's hard to noticeJaline

What a stupid question. Having long hair is naturally considered feminine by almost every human on Earth. It's just built into them. Having long hair makes them feel prettier.
- lol I love it when by calling other people stupid someone reveals their own sheer stupidity...set

Having long hair in some culture is completely normal for guys. Take Jesus for example and whoever that little kid's name is, who's always sleeping on jesus laps in paintings. or maybe jesus was simply a dirty hippie.
Chinese culture before Qing dynasty. long hair for guys represents wealth and status. because only the poor had to work and cut their hair.
In ancient Greek and Rome culture. Long hair represents Youth.
