Chrome and youtube

Just started using Chrome as Safari keeps crashing.
When I open a load of youtube videos in new tabs it plays the video before I open the tab. How stupid is that?
Is there anyway to get it to only load the video once I open the tab, like safari does?
Seems like a stupid oversight to me, unless I'm missing a preference somewhere?

Also key commands seem to spontaneously stop working in Chrome—I think perhaps on YouTube pages though I'm not certain. Suddenly Command+M will no longer minimize, etc.

This isn't an issue for anyone else? It's enough of one for me to stop using chrome. Although I found a patch thing to fix it, so it's fine now and this whole post is pointless.
