    With a good office scanner, if possible, I would scan to 1200 dpi and then resample to 300. You should also be careful with moiré (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mo... which in case of happening, should be fixed with the angle you place what you're scanning inside the scanner.

    I find that the best possible results come from turning off all scanning software image adjustments. No sharpness, no auto levels, nothing. Straight scan bed to computer. Sometimes turning it all off takes a few moments. Then, adjust in photoshop from there. The better the in, the better the out.

    Sorry... monospaced is right. Straight scan 600 or 1200 dpi, and then work in photoshop with adjustment layers.
