This Bill has passed the Senate.
Call you representative and let him know you oppose this bill.IT would allow U.S. military to detain and murder anti-government protesters in American cities

Thanks, I posted and will post there in the future. This is extremely crucial people do something about it...

It seems to me your president had vowed to veto this thing ... or, at least, that's what I remember reading.

From that Salon article:
'The Obama administration and their Senate defenders have repeatedly made clear that their real objection to this bill is that they want Executive Branch officials — in the DOJ, CIA and Pentagon — to make these decisions, not Congress[...]'
Guess that answers my question, then.
Remind me again why ordinary people in the US aren't actually revolting against this stuff?

Americans (and people in general, really) will get whipped up by whatever issue is covered in the media. If the media doesn't cover it, people don't know it's happening.

I ask the same question. We are not the founding father generation or even the generation that historically stopped other attempts for similar more milder actions to squash the constitution.

Honestly we'd be better off if Congress just shut down and put necessary functions like the budget on autopilot. I can't think of a single action or bill passed by Congress that did any good in the past several years.

If this isn't unconstitutional, I don't know what is.....
It would be interesting to see the current conservative-majority supreme court go through gyrations trying to justify this.... but it may take a long time for a challenging case to make it there...

It's their reaction to OWS, a defense in case the 99 actually rise up.

The more and more the consequences of 9/11 add up, the more and more it looks like it was an inside job

The real horror in this Bill is the word-spacing in Sections 2105–2107
