I have some footage captured on a 7D and in in FCP as prores 422.
I want it to go into After effects, be fucked about with, and then come back into FCP for final edit..
Should i keep it as prores or export as Animation..
or something else..
thoughts..

keep it as prores - otherwise you'd be adding in an extra step of encoding for no real reason.

but when im rendering out of AE, surely compressing all the shit i do in there is going to get crushed a bit?
I am basically just using FCP to ingest the footage and do a quick grade, then bringing a bunch of 3D stuff in from C4D and then comping it all in AE..
- then taking those clips back into FCP for the final audio syncautoflavour

keep as prores then render image sequence out of after effects like tga or animation 100% quality

cool, thanks

gotcha.
If it's all comps n vfx/anim, avoid doing that initial grade in FCP - just bring those original captured ProRes files into AE and do your thing from there.
That final render, sure, spit out as Animation 100% - then encode a ProRes copy to use in FCP / send off for broadcast/soundmix etc.
