On our image search page, I wanted to keep the left side bar with the advanced search filters fixed within the browser window (at the moment it is not). What do people think about keeping that fixed so the user can always filter an image search without having to scroll up to change things? Anyone have any good ideas or examples of sites that do this well?

Here is the search page with a random search on it. http://cutcaster.com/search/?que…

Thanks for your feedback on the pros and cons.

when did this "Stay" button appear? I just noticed it, but then again I don't think I noticed the "dog-ear" button for a few years either.

do the exact same thing you're doing with the secondary top bar. set it as fixed when the header leaves the browser

Yeah fixed might be the way go to. I like the "stay / follow" at QBN but as you can see not many people even knew what it was for. That option might just get lost but I think if we set it to fixed to start but give the user to option to "follow" like on QBN that may work.
