Hi Guys,
I am a western designer based in China. I mostly deal with foreign clients but occasionally i have to typeset simplified chinese characters.
I have not really been able to find any resources for Chinese fonts or anything at all in English anyway.
I am just looking for maybe 10 top quality chinese fonts that I can couple with some standard quality roman fonts.
Does anyone at all know of where to find a list of the best quality Chinese fonts. Given that there are so many characters and it takes so long to create a font I cant image there can be that many quality Chinese fonts out there. I just want to know what they are called!
Basically my problem is that right now when I add Chinese to anything I design it ruins it. Ill design a nice business card and then have to choose a chinese font to compliment the one I am using and it never really does.
Help me! Thanks very much :)

Thanks very much. These are pretty horrible though!
I am really looking for some modern looking well designed fonts.Anything that looks like it could be used for "Bank of China" logos I generally steer clear of! I don't imagine I will ever have the need to use a brush stroke type chinese font.

Thank you,
What does Sung mean exactly? So I am right in thinking that there really isnt too many good Chinese fonts then?
- because it's too hard to design chinese font i assume. way too many characters. unlike English, everything is based on 26 alphabet.pango

- You need to know between 3 and 4 thousand characters, just to read a news paper. There are around 7000 in general use and more than 10000 total. I wouldn't want the job of designing a fontAlu
- and over 12,000 in a full font set :)mydo

I'm also a western designer based in China, which city are you in?
- mydo0
typist, i haven't seen you here for ages! nothing like a chinese font thread to bring you out of hiding!
I don't think there are plenty of bad fonts in china. There are about 10 - 20 distinct styles of fonts and their varying weights. You just gota design with them. They're also about 6MB each so best not to have too many!
