I can never decide what to do here and suggestions would be appreciated. My work is very mixed in terms of it's audience and purpose.
I draw / exhibit / illustrate - http://www.craigatkinson.co.uk
I also take photos / make books / exhibit - http://photo.craigatkinson.co.uk…
I also run a publishing house - http://www.caferoyalbooks.comI am forever trying to make all three things 'sit' together in one site but it never seems to work. I'm far from a web designer and tend to use WP. The reason I have separated them is because photo types tend not to want to see the drawings, and vice versa. It is all my work though, so I feel like it should all be in one place.
Thoughts on the above?

imo, i would keep them separate. i feel the work loses its draw & power when you have everything on page. definitely link to everything though on each site.
also people (potential employers) tend to get scared when you present yourself in a way that says, "i can do everything just look." don't know why, but that's my experience. maybe it says you have a lack of focus.
anyways i keep my stuff separate. used to just mash everything together.

Hm, either way 'works' I suppose - I just wonder whether to include it all on one site dilutes everything a bit

keep em separate. I read once that people looking at your art/design don't want to see your photography and vice versa.

What does your experience, from your specific situation, tell you? Are your illustration clients interested in your photo work etc.?
If the three spheres don't overlap in real life, don't overlap them online.

Will you publish my book?

Separate markets = separate sites
If a site is trying to be too much to too many people, people think you're a dillitante, rather than a multi-talented ace
Not sure why..... but some people are "pleasantly surprised" by seeing more skills shown in separate websites....

Separate sites. Period. No doubt about it.
I'm a Creative Director with deep illustration, design, animation and retouching backgrounds. I used to have everything on one site, but when I sent it to employers, they either didn't believe I did it all, or—and this is my favorite quote—"didn't know what to do with me."
Split it up. Send the relevant site urls to the relevant recipients. If you have a recipient should/could receive all three, send all three.
Good luck.
- yeah, I guessed - just wish people would open their minds a bit!Atkinson
