This is going to rule so much. Seeing this in Imax should more than make up for the money and time I wasted seeing that Wonka bullshit a few years ago.

at his own creators, engineers.... maybe hopes he will be free after that?

I can't wait to see it.

Oh, maybe stems from when Weyland said he had no soul.

The planet at the beginning of the movie is barren, the Engineers are seeding life by drinking that District 9 goo to break apart and mutate their own DNA. It's a Promethean sacrifice.

Surely there are many more Davids stored somewhere.

I was thinking maybe because they were going to get in the way of Weiland achieving what he really wanted...I think Weiland ordered David to kill them and that's why he poisoned Holloway. And it seemed like he knew they would do it (haha, do it) in turn killing her as well. But she survived that, which he was impressed by. He when she showed up in the control room as they were waking up the engineer, he sinisterly commented about her managing to survive that mess.
- Hmm Ill have to see it again. Totally missed that.CygnusZero4
- Did the poisoning occur after Weyland told David to "Try harder"?randommail
- I think so, but not positive on thatsmrz
- yes it was afterbrandelec

It "sets up" the original, sure, whatever, but it also recreated it (and threw in a few nods to Aliens and Alien 3).
In both Alien and Prometheus:
• a small crew awakens from hypersleep to a mission they didn't expect/weren't briefed on before leaving
• an android passes as human (a surprise in Alien, but known in Prometheus and then lampshaded with "are you a robot?" asked to Vickers) and endangers the crew because it's taking orders/following protocols that render them expendable
• in both cases the android's orders come from a quasi-parental figure (David's 'father' in Prometheus, and a computer named Mother in Alien)
• the android physically assaults the female lead in an attempt to carry out his mission
• the crew accidentally awakens an alien weapon, originating in a container on the floor, and one gets infected and they bring him back to the ship where he dies
• much of the remaining crew is killed by an alien (in Prometheus the infected Fifield and then an Engineer)
• their ship is sacrificed to stop the threat, but for naught because the alien/Engineer survives and confronts the female lead one final time in a smaller space ship ejected from the main one
• there's ultimately a single female survivor who spends much of the movie being ignored by her superiors and seems to be the only one with a grasp of how serious this shit isAnd in Aliens and Prometheus we have:
• a terraforming/atmosphere-producin... station on a barren rocky planet
• an incredulous crew briefed about their alien mission
• the female lead has a surrogate daughter to address her motherhood issues (Ripley missed her daughter's entire adult life, returning to Earth years after she died, and Shaw is infertile and deeply upset by her inability to 'create life')And for good measure, Alien 3 and Prometheus:
• the sole female survivor is infected with an alien fetus
• the sole female survivor is aided by the disembodied android headI've watched it three times now hoping to glean some hidden value from it which others must be privy to, but I don't believe there is any lost among the plot holes and bad writing.
- Everything would be much clearer for me if they showed more of story about engineer who jumped in the waterteh
- this is supposedly covered in the alternate beginning and endings on the DVDflashbender
- The entire beginning is what made the movie for me.teh
- Scott could make a movie just on the engineers now also.teh

i liked it. but compared to his old work, it was crap.
hes just following todays hollywood formula, replace slow character development with more action, shock and fx. we can thank focus groups filled with subjects with short attention spans for this. movies are not like they used to be, thats or sure, damn politics.
