Maybe this person sees you, and your role and would like to do that. Maybe they're hoping to find out how long they have until having a position like yours feasible. An honest question. Maybe you're too fucking sensitive.
A freelancer I hired asked me the other day, with exactly this in mind.

^ Life comparison type thing.
He wants to fuck you, or be like you, or both.
Be flattered either way.

joke around it. tell them you're at least 100. i stop counted at that point.

or say. between 18 and 81. next question.

still, they are not suppose to ask that. so, you really don't need to give them a honest answer.
this has nothing to do with being sensitive. i had one asshole who keep asking me that shit. i told him, you're not suppose to ask me that. he said, really? no, tell me.
oh, and he was older then me. well he looked. i don't know. i didn't ask him.

Maybe he was just making conversation and didn't mean it to be offensive, either way you could just say you'd rather not say than get some legal jargon to throw down at him.
If I asked someone their age and they replied with "it's illegal to ask my age in an interview", I'd think you were a dumbass and never speak to you again, so maybe it works?
