Who uses Android. Which Android phones are best [UK]?
Have they sorted out the battery yet? And 3G connectivity? And is there a decent podcast sync to itunes / mac?

I have a galaxy s, which is meant to have bad battery, but it has a decent battery, just as good as my old iphone 3gs -
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/S…Galaxy S2 is the front runner at the mo, unless you want to plug it into a laptop for a faux laptop experience, then you want the atrix.
S2! go go go
- they designed it to have a bad battery?omg
- With some jiggery pokery you can turn the S2 into a lite computer as well. Hopefully it'll be made easier with a screenshare app, but you can plug mouse and keyboard in via a microUSB->USB adapter and they usually work fine.orrinward
- screenshare app, but you can easily plug a mouse and kb in with a microUSB->USB adapterorrinward

and also consider the galaxy S1, still got a gorgeous amoled screen and still powerful. Check the desire HD out too (although its huge screen drains battery fast).
The only reason i would upgrade to an S2, would be for better games and for smoother flash interaction. Flash on single core is ok, but not perfect.
Also the S2 has a huge battery (1900), so the battery life is decent.

@Hombre_Lobo tech guru! I had the nexus s for a while and loved it except 3g / battery . Isn't the S2 the same phone pretty much?
- Hombre_Lobo0
^wooooooooooooooo wo wo!
firstly yes, i spend far too much time researching shit!
nexus s the same thing as the s2? no no no! the s2 is what the nexus s should have been. the nexus s and the galaxy s are identical specs (pretty much). 1 gig processor, decent gpu. and 512mb of ram (iirc)
However. the s2 has a dual core 1 ghz cpu. twice the power!! and it has 1 gig of ram. so its much more powerful. So browsing the web with flash etc will be smoother and the gaming performance is miles better as it has a new graphics processor in it.
the big question is, was the nexus s (which is a gorgeous device) lacking in any way for you? if you dont game at all and the browsing experience was great, the galaxy s2 may be a waste of money for you. just a thought.

if your looking for the best deal I suggest the LG OptimusV on Virgin Mobile.
No contract, unlimited data, great plans. I have had mine for 6 months now and love it. I got an ipad recently and honestly prefer my android for usability and interface. I have a wifi only ipad and use my lg as a hotspot so I can use my pad pretty much anywhere for free. Also my virgin bill is 45 bucks a month. Pretty happy with it, not playing games(except on the shitter at work) and only watch a movie in a blue moon. Phone is quick and reliable.

I just got the Galaxy S2 and I have to say I'm very impressed. Battery life has been my only complaint so far, but it's mainly because I have new-phone-syndrome and I've been playing first-person shooters, using GPS/WiFi and watching movies on it.
I also sometimes use it as my work computer now, if I'm just writing documents and plans for work - You can buy a cheap MicroUSB->USB female convertor and it takes my USB mouse and keyboard out of the box - I share my screen over DLNA with my monitor.
- NOT DLNA... HDMI sorry!orrinward
- that is awesome, did not know that, i love my s1, but one day that s2 :)Hombre_Lobo

This just came out on all networks in the UK last week (previously vodafone only) http://www.htc.com/www/product/s…

ah maybe the sensation is the one I was thinking is like the s2? I ditched the nexus for three reasons.
1. Battery was dead by dinner time, on a daily basis.
2. 3g connectivity didn't exist, either wifi or nothing, in areas that iphone was great with 3g.
3.syncing podcasts from itunes was impossible and double twist was terrible.
as soon as these things are sorted / if they are already, I'm getting one. maybe!

starting to kick the crap out of the iPhone

atkinson the galaxy s2 has a huge 1900mah battery so i wouldn't worry about that.
bare in mind the motorola atrix has a 1930mah battery and has the best battery life of any smartphone, so the s2 will be near identical -
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/S…iphone4 gets 7.4 hours, atrix 11.58 hours.
and also for emergencies spares are very cheap, i can get an official battery for my galaxy s1 for £6.

Android phones are pushing this next month. Gotta roll them out before the iPhone5 comes out. Check for rebates and cheap deals on the Androids.

dude, you should wait till Galaxy S3 comes out.
It will have tripple core, and will feature Ultra Super AMOLED that is transparent and flexible. it will suports 5G network where you can download Blue-Ray dvd in flying 1.7 seconds!!! . You can also project this movie on the wall. And the best part is it's free with 7 years subscription plan.
WORTH!!! FUCKING!!!! WAIT!!!!
- haha classic! with a 5D mk II built into the small body!!! YEEEAAAH!Hombre_Lobo

Just dumped my iphone 3GS for the Motorola Atrix 4G. So far lovin it.
- give it a week.antagonista
- I've heard bad things about the Atrix prototypes, or may have even been first run. I'd like to know how you get on.orrinward
- I went for the S2 purely based on bad reviews of the Atrix. I would have gone for the Atrix if I'd not heard about crashes.orrinward

I'd rather have a mediocre phone on a fast good 4G network than a brilliant phone on a mediocre 3G network with dropped calls all the time....

i rather have the fastest phone in the entire world, and it must shoots lazer beams
