Hi all,
I've been asked to convert some images to 100dpi GIF, but every time I save for web, the gifs turn out to 72dpi. I guess that's the default. I also noticed that you are no longer able to save gifs from the "save as" menu.
So, I cannot use png's, jpegs, etc. The specs call for Gifs, for whatever reason they decided on.
Please help,
Thanks

save for web?

ask for what size they want the image in pixels, and work with that instead

Weird. I can still save GIFs from the Save As menu. CS5.

ah monospaced - thank you. I just realize that they have to be converted to RGB for the Gif to be available on the pulldown.
For some reason I kept thinking the option was removed altogether.
Good to go, thanks for the tips.

THis makes my stomach hurt.
Is there something I should know?

Are they taking the piss?
DPI on a GIF? This is some sort of practical joke, like asking an intern to call the DIY shop and ask for a glass hammer, or get a chemistry student to go fill a bucket with 78% nitrogen, 21% Oxygen and about 1% of Argon, then fill the remainder with CO2.

It's for an onlime proofing tool for packaging projects. For some reason the developers need thumbnails made as gif format. I just dont have time and patience to argue with developers and always just give them exatcly what I been asked.

send them a 300x250 gif @ 1000 dpi and a 300x250 gif @ 1 dpi and let them decide

Think they're taking the piss mate.
or completely retarded.

I mean does the GIF file spec even have a DPI setting? Judging from the Wikipedia page which has a breakdown of the file contents, no.
I mean it's a format designed purely for the web by Compuserve
