If you want light AND fast I assume you have a budget...
Samsung's Series 9- ... high budget that is.ETM
- might as well get the Airmonospaced
- LOL .. get AIR..lolBoz
- I'm just comparing them, Boz. No need to get hysterical. The Air is better.monospaced
- but just my opinionmonospaced
- No, the Air isn't. Samsung 9's have i5/i7, Air has C2Duo.orrinward

If price isn't an issue, get a Mac.

MacBooks might get an upgrade soon—surely the Airs will within two weeks.

Samsung Series 9 will get an upgrade on 13" to blasting i7 and new GPU and it will be $300-$400 cheaper than the one out now.
The new Dell XPS 15z is fantastic I hear. It's basically super powerful Mac with GeForce 545 GPU with i7 processor and the shizzle for about $1400.

btw no laptop (including Apple's) can compare to Samsung's Series 9 display.. that 400nit display will leave you speechless. That thing just needs a more powerful GPU and it's probably the nicest laptop made so far. It's just beautiful and super fast.

I'm typing this on a Dell.... used to hate them, but I tried some new ones that changed my mind....

I also saw that Sony is releasing a new series of super thin and super powerful laptops very soon. You might want to wait on that if you don't like this Dell or Series 9 Samsung.
These new Sony's I know will be super powerful. Let me try to find a link about them.

Yeah.. it looks insane that Sony:

super fast > dell precision
is 17" though, and as heavy as its fast

Vaio Z's are awesome, but their smaller. 13.3" 1080p display and they're stupid-light. Expensive though...

LENOVO THINKPAD
T or X seriesThey don't look like much but they are little beasts built link tanks.
(Check videos on youtube of folk standing on, pouring water on t410 and x201)A lot more durable than any other laptop out there!
(without going with those silly ones in plastic muckle cases for mountaineers)

If you want a cheaper option and you're not a gamer, I've beenvery impressed with my new laptop, the Dell Latitude E4310. It hasn't got outstanding reviews but I've found it to be fantastic, and I paid <£500 for a customised version with 8GB RAM, second internal HD (128GB SSD for main drive with a 500GB Hybrid as storage).
It easily handles me running 2 an Ubuntu VM whilst rendering video in After Effects and usually with lots of Chrome tabs and Photoshop. The fan is not noticable and even when running intensive stuff, the processors don't spike above 60 degrees according to Speccy.
It's reasonably light, and very well built with a sturdy chassis. It's a no-frills laptop when it comes to Graphics cards and won't run most modern games confidently, but for work it's fantastic.

If you code whatever spec will suffice (500 dollars PC)
