hi all!
Just a quick one and im sure its simple to do (but clearly WAY too complex for me).
Im trying to subtract one shape (a drawn line) from another a larger solid shape.
e.g. i have this -
i want to subtract the grey line from the green square.but this happens -
despite the line not having any fill whatsoever.Ive tried all pathfinder options but no such luck. I'm sure im ham fistedly missing a simple button or something.
any ideas? Thanks :)

i probably should have known that, i remember working on flyers and having to convert shapes and strokes to outlines before sending to print as PDF, i should have guessed!
