Im in the middle of doing my website. It's based on the wpshower template portfolium.
I'm not that great into programming, it takes me a lot of time; that's why im using a template to make it somewhat easier for me.
I'm pretty bad at designing my own thing, specially website, but im slowly working it out.I'd like a few points to see what you think, specially if it still looks like a template? or what can i add to make it look less like a template?
Below is the link to the "portfolio" and you can click some of the works. The other links (about, resume, blog) are all there but there's nothing there.
http://blog.kelvinlikethetempera…many thanks in advance.
PS. if you click on the logo to go back to home, it'll take you to an intro page that i have as a placeholder... :)

My goal for now is to get this to a point that is presentable and have everything in. And then embellish the site

The red rollovers with the blue type makes it look a little too patriotic
- lol.. thanks, will check on it.k_temp

I don't mind the colors personally. I do think the drop-down menu is a bit weak.

I might do away with PROJECTS
and just have subs with EXHIBITION BRANDING etc (flush left
on top of the various rowsjust a thought.
- ahh gotcha. So instead of drop-menu, have Exhibition, Branding.. on each row?k_temp
- yeah, I think would be quicker and cleaner.alicetheblue
- IMO ;-)alicetheblue
- it is cleaner, although i dont have a great balance between works. Most of them are exhibits so it'll look a bit wonky.k_temp
- i've also been having a hard time categorizing each project in that page. Not quite familiar with phpk_temp
- see your point ...
with the addition of the ^ above post should be good.

Template or note it's the work that counts and yours is nice. I'd find a cleaner looking typeface than the main condensed sans you're using. Something with a variety of weights to mix it up and add hierarchy. A face a bit more distinctive and sharply drawn with the same look. Maybe add a single serif usage such as the project titles on the main portfolio page. And the light blue in your last name isn't very legible. Squint and it's gone. Otherwise it looks great. Best wishes.
- not, not notePatrickKing
- Great! thanks. will look into it.k_temp
