What is the best way to find a PRINT based job as a recent college grad? I just graduated from Cal Arts, and am interested in staying here or going to NY. I've done internships, but don't want to work those places.
Monster.com is hopeless. My school doesn't have good job listings.

indeed - junior print jobs nyc

http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=jun…indeed is a great site, as it great for finding specific salaries, location [globally], titles, etc..

research some studios in the location you would like to be in and don't ask for a job. Ask the Creative/Art Director if they have time to review your portfolio. They are usually willing to take a look and give feedback and if you have good work they also usually know someone who could use a junior level designer.
Hit the pavement. You'll meet some cool and talented people.

I am sorry, there is no hope for you.

honestly your best bet is to intern where you want to work. 5 yrs at my last agency and every junior designer/production artist was hired after interning. Also make sure you intern at the best places possible as they are a huge help getting your foot in the door down the road. If its a no name place it doesn't even help having on your resume in my opinion.

I started out with internships or freelancing at the companies i wanted to work at before getting offers.
- i've applied to places that didn't have job listings and have gotten jobs that way too

It sounds like the best bet would be to find an internship.
Thanks!

I'm looking for a junior. I'm in St. Louis, but am willing to work with someone in another part of the country. Would be strictly freelance for the foreseeable future, but I need some consistent support, 30+ hours/wk. Email me if interested.

^ Work with Gramme if you're interested in developing beautiful print/brand work that is polished and gets produced.

100% what capn_ron said.
Don't email asking for jobs, ask to go in for a chat, for feedback on your folio. Be friendly, ask good questions.
I have a meeting tomorrow morning doing that exact thing.
