So is Jobs launching the iPhone 5 today?
- Boz0
yawn.. nobody cares :) I'll be watching cool E3 conferences and getting ready to go to E3 myself

I don't think they will announce new hardware, but we'll see...
- Raniator0
No, he's talking about iOS 5, Lion and iCloud.
Engadget usually offer the best live coverage.

If iCloud is merely a service that charges you for storing music that you already own then it will be underwhelming. I think Apple will have learned from its mistakes with MobileMe and won't simply replicate the cloud music offerings from Amazon and Google. We'll see a service that combines with OSX Lion and iOS 5 to move management of all your devices into the cloud. I'm expecting apps that update automatically, wireless syncing between devices and, I hope, the ability to store all your media in the cloud - not just those you've bought from iTunes.
And one more thing: I think there could a hardware surprise at the end of this keynote but I don't think it will be a new iPhone. I think we'll see an updated Time Capsule that enables the iCloud services and, perhaps, allows you to run an iOS device without linking it to a computer.

iCloud has gotta solve the iPhone/iPad document management/transfer issues, because they're a shambles at the minute.
And the only real solution is using Dropbox as a crutch at the moment

@Raniator yeah, Apple really needs to get away from that "plug to iTunes to use" when you buy an iOS device, one of the bests things about the Kindle is that you don't need to plug into a computer when you buy it to use it.
From iOS 5 all I want is better handling of notifications, I hope this is in for today announcements.

I am hoping for a variety of things from iCloud. Most important to ME personally would be the ability to play my fuckin' music on any device I have without having to keep synching that shit all the time. With an iPhone, iPad, MBP and iMac, it's a real PITA. Especially when I subscribe to like 1023910293019230123 podcasts, download them all, get really excited to listen to them all, but then I accidentally plug my shit into my MBP and suddenly those 1023910293019230123 are gone because I'm not subscribe on my MBP. What the FUCK is that? So stupid.
Also, if they fixed iDisk, I would drop Dropbox in a heartbeat.

Personally I'm hoping they slap the logo on this...

one more thing - jobs will retire and announce the future of apple
- what do you mean, announce the future of apple?monospaced
- who will run it and and who will be the face ofAtkinson
- i think he means who will take over for Jobs.dMullins

Personally, the Lockinfo guy should have been hired instead. Lockinfo is a way superior way to handle all notifications + provides API for developers to use it also... Needs a better designer though.
</ramble>Some rumours about new private sms protocol to text iphones for free should end with a lot of third party apps and send RIM take a hike further away.

I know this conference talk will be mainly about software, but it bothers me that the Apple Store isn't 'down' like usual.

- ESKEMA0
No videos allowed this year. unless someone manages to do it, only blog like coverage. If you find a good link without 2 15yrs old talking shit let me know
- kona0
you can't demo an icould type solution when your internet is getting raped by live video coverage.
- team_zissou0
they are 1 minute late.
- autoflavour0
word on the street is they are releasing the iPad4, iPhone8 and a new device called the iPleb1
