It's official.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-135…
The whole thing would have blown over had he not made such a fuss and gone to Twitter with his lawyers, what an ass.
He's still an absolute legend.

"Using parliamentary privilege to break the court order, he said it would not be practical to imprison the 75,000 Twitter users who had named the player."
... can someone explain this?... I'm not from the UK - is there a privacy law of sorts stating if you outed someone online that you would go to jail?

Thank fuck this is all over. Maybe now the British news meeja can get on with reporting some actual news rather than reporting a report that there's "a report that can't be published which involves a footballer who can't be named doing something we can't tell you, and isn't it interesting that we can't tell you who, or what, or why, or where or when.. now here's Sally with the sports round up".

The guy in the building (Parliament) outed his name because Ryan Giggs was attempting to sue the said Twitter user, despite that person not being a member of the press which these super injunctions are aimed at.
If he hadn't simply brought out the name, the said user would have been found and sued in secret.

I am of the opinion these sort of high profile privacy cases are intentionally trying to shake up the laws and publicise legal issues related to social media.
