I just saw a copy of the new mag. Except it looks like an old mag scanned in and reprinted on shit paper.
It's a poor imitation of 90's Carson design. I feel sorry for anyone that subscribed.

^ I voted with my feet when they couldn't provide a fair subscription price for Canada... $51.80 vs $36.35, with Canadian dollar trading above par - dicks.

it has been reviewed by MagCulture
"There may just be a real magazine somewhere inside this first issue, but if so the team have done their best to hide it. Unlike previous Carson-designed magazines this one gives no clue to what it is supposed to be about, meaning the chaos of the design has no context. Anyone involved in teaching graphic design in the immediate period after the publication of ’The End of Print’ will recognise the design – sub-standard Carson-esque tribute would be putting it charitably. That’s without beginning to consider the broader change of context eighteen years on."

regarding my involvment with alex torchs magazine:
yeah, im still confused by the whole thing myself.
especailly that the guy, alex torch, on the mags web site still says im
creative director for an issue i had
nothing to do with!!
at first the mag seemed like it could be a cool idea,
till i found out more about the guy behind it.
ive never met him, but his endless emails and threats and messages to me
seem like a kid right out of college, from new jersey, and most mention
sueing me for one thing or
another.
i was told i would have complete ediotrial freedom, but in fact alex
torch himself, selected all stories, arts and photo, much to my surprise .
embarrasment and horror.
i never saw a single submission or letter people thought they were sending
to me.
when i realized what was going on,i tried to back out, and even pleaded
with him to change the name
of the mag, but he refused. and even secretly named and started his
company called “carson media” a corporation registered in delaware.he used my name in all his promotions before we had ANY agreement to work
together,( he said he
need subribers money to pay bills and the new office space he rented) and
continues to this day to
decieve people and imply or state directly that im involved.trying to back out, i said i would “advise” as he kept threatning to sue me
“for everything youve got,
including your property”so,
yes in january things seemed like maybe they could work, i quickly
realized it was a huge mistake
with a kinda sleasy guy who knew nothing about magazines.
he was just out
of arizona state , and only
other job had been starting a website called “sinning in LA”. ( a tacky
disaster)i was involved on issue one , and even though the mag was delivered to him
on time, he refused to pay
me. he payed me less then half of what our agreement said, saying” i paid
you what youre worth”his reaction when he saw the first issue? “this is amazing”
and then, “bin laden may be dead but not print!”
classy guy.ive heard from writers now that are having trouble getting paid as well.
i wasnt even remotely involved with his 2nd issue, but he still lists me as
“creative director’ on his web
site, i guess to still help lure subscribers and advertisers.and unbelivabley, as of june 27, 2011 this guy still says he works with me on his magazine on his linkdon page!!!!
stalker and extreme wanna be.
hope this helps clear up some stuff.
take care
david

Mr.Magazine today...
On David Carson’s personal website there was this note buried in a sea of other notes:
david carson has no connection whatsoever with the magazine calling itself “carson mag”,
So, considering the note and the new name for both the magazine and the website, I reached out, via email, to Alex Storch, the magazine’s editor with few questions about the situation. Here are my questions and his answers:
Samir Husni: What is the story behind the shift from Carson magazine to Untitled magazine?
Alex Storch: We bent over backwards to try and accommodate David but unfortunately he made working together impossible. The funny thing is, under all of this drama, we’ve realized that the real story here is how remarkable the magazine is. We have amazing content in Issue Two, which features Noam Chomsky, Mike Doughty, Neil Strauss, Shepard Fairey, and more. We’re currently in the process of changing the name and bringing on new designers for future issues, but hey, life goes on.
SH: Is the second issue with the line on top of Carson’s name going to be sold on the newsstands as such?
AS: Yes.

Seems like they have called the mag (drumroll for most original title ever) 'Untitled Magazine' (http://untitledmagazine.net/).
I think this is also the final nail in the coffin:
'cover art from Mr. Brainwash'
