I need some nice calming classical music to get me through today, however I don't know who the big players are in this genre, any suggestions?
I have this to offer...
Vladimir Ashkenazy / Anatole Fistoulari : Rachmaninov Piano Concertos 2&3

Try Phillips Glass, I would suggest Glassworks or The Essential Phillip Glass Albums. Both great - borderline contemporary Classical.

Don't know if you're ever had the chance to see Red Priest, but they are fucking awesome. All Baroque.
The group is named after the red-haired Italian priest and Baroque composer, Antonio Vivaldi.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red… it's really just http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pie… Piers Adams though...

Check out some Dakota Suite:
- that's what's cool about classical, it can have modernized themes. it's not just old German and Austrianspopfodders
- yeah, there's a bunch of great new stuff out there, but sometimes hard to find.mg33

I listen to Gorecki, Arvo Part, Hovhaness, de Falla, Copland, and Barber. I'm very interested in broadening my modern classical taste, so I'm looking forward to more answers.
