Is there even one? I have dreams of living in a mid-century modern home in Palm Spring's amazing climate, but it seems like there isn't much there design wise.
Does anyone have some fist hand info or experience?

geriatric doodles... lots of 'fine' paintings of flowers and desert shit...

I was there recently, it's a great place to go with your girl and relax for a weekend near the pool.
That's it.we went around on our bikes, took some photos of the amazing houses, and in 2hrs you've seen it all.
There's an art scene for fine art like ponyboy said.
the downtown area is super tiny and in 1 week everyone knows you by first name."amazing climate" I don't know about that.
you are in the middle of the desert in case you didnt know.
you'll be sweating bullets whenever you are not close to an AC unit, if you are used to so much heat, then that might not be a problem for you though.I live in san diego, ca where it gets pretty damn hot, but at least we are close to the ocean, in palm spring you are not.
The best way to describe the feeling of the average day to me is "chicken nuggets"
you know when you are baking those frozen chicken nuggets and you open the oven to take them out when they are done? the heat that hits you in the face when you do that, that's how it feels to be in palm springs, from 9 am to 7pm
Other than that, architecture wise is amazing, I love it.
- and all the LA agencies probably do all the country club and event workVikingKingEleven

agree w/mig on the architecture... nice drive that lasts you about a day or so...
... it's far more a retirement community than anything - old folks tucked away... ... waiting......

I remember walking around downtown, sweating like a pig and saw this guy running like around noon, I couldn't believe it.. I mean I'm sure after a while you get used to it, but for a minute I though this guy has to be chuck norris...

my family used to have a house there in the 80s.. palm springs is really fun if you are 15-17 and like to steal endless golf carts and blow up m-80s in the desert, or goto the tiny water park and sleep in a tire on the lazy river.. or go tripping on acid.. i cant imagine it be good for design, as its mostly older people who dont seem to die and they bake out in the sun til they look like raisins.. in spring break though the fun is there heavily.. then like magic, its gone!! if you drive from la to palm springs. you can see the dinosaurs that pee wee herman sits in.. that is like the highlight of driving to palm springs.. oh and there is an exist to rent some quads and trikes near a farmers market.. and then there is joshua tree.. which is just endless joshua trees as far as you can see.. there is like 3 snakes and 1 tarantula in the whole desert.. its like the most boring place on earth!! .. good place to trip on mushrooms..if you want to be alone.. its hot as balls year round.. and in the summer its like super crazy hot!!! you melt if you leave a building to your car.. you can go see bob hope's house.. did i mention its really hot..?? like you melt and burn at the same time.. but its dry heat.. so instead of sweating you just burn.. like hellfire!!
