Storm the palace, loot all the art and furniture, torch the place to the ground, and build a lovely park on top of the ruins - paid for by the sale of all the royal crap & have the royal idiots serve as the grouds keepers.
England has given so much in the way of law, civility and the arts, and this is the c®ap people are drawn to. I weep for the future.
- Fuck, did taxpayers pay for this wedding or did Michael Middleton foot the bill?honest
- Middleton paid £100k enough I think. The amount of revenue for TV rights, touristism etc makes up for it in a blink of an eyeejectstudio
- 2 Billion people watched.ejectstudio

when you look at the history of the brit royals it makes total sense to keep such high quality people in their positions. thank goodness we live in a country whos founders had the good sense to kick them and their wig wearing inbred dummys out. bye bye, back to your polluted island.

friday should have been a day of rage against the monarchy. riots in the streets, off with their heads! : )

I'm not one to support Kings and Queens and fairies, but a monarchy is more complex than people think it is.

They're not obsolete at all. They have their purposes.
—They're the real shadow cabinet. When the democracy experiment fails (well, maybe it won't but it always did in history) there is a fallback structure in place, one that worked for centuries and works now in many countries. It is just common sense to have it.
—They are a tourist and investor magnet. Rich people and aristocracy, especially from feudal states are drawn to Royalty.
Contrary to what most people think, they're mostly self-sufficient. They own loads of profitable land, real estate and other investments (e.g. www.duchyoriginals.com ).
They get some sort allowance from the budget, ie. representation fund but it pays off in the grand scheme of things.- The End.tangoxray3
