um...from that wikipedia article:
although it has also been shown to increase the size of both the liver and spleen in mice.[12] While no randomized case-controlled studies have been published in humans, several unsubstantiated reports have suspected liver damage, metabolic acidosis and life-threatening toxicity.

It is basically really strong yogurt. It has the same properties. Good bacteria that multiply in your intestinal tract which helps to absorb the nutrients from food you eat.

i like it a lot - but the cranberry or ginger varieties. those cut the sourness of the culture... i also would drink it a lot more often if it wasn't $4+ a bottle.

Huh. I have some friends who are madly into this, making their own — I've always written it off as some vile hippy bullshit. tbh, I had no idea what it was.
Now that I realise it's actually tea and funghi (two of my favouritest things) I'm actually quite keen to try and make some.
Thanks for the headsup!
(btw — they love the shit, but are hippies, so I don't know if that aggrieves or encourages you...)

I enjoy the taste and how I feel after drinking them. Some say they are great for hangovers. To me it settles my stomach and gives me a boost of energy. I would drink it everyday if it didn't cost 4 bucks a bottle.
