Karbon is very much what i though i was looking for, the lowercase is clean and modern while none of the capitals compete with each other.
Brandon Grotesque reminds me very much of Houschka which I already have and love http://marketplace.veer.com/font…
Foco if coo, except the italic is too feminine I feel for this application but very nicely paired
Ubuntu, really? No. while free it is affordable, the font is the masthead of Ubuntu, no need to have affiliation confusion.
Joey is nice as are several faces by Fontsmith, Albert as listed and Jack I well I had found. but Jack had what I felt were too expressive of a lowercase set ie the g and some capitals seem off in Albert ie the R seems stunted at smaller sizes
Replica seems very generic and geometric, both it and Graphik are both nice, especially the light weights of Graphik. they both seem too fashion and not enough modern manufacturing.
I have Akkurat, what it lacks in personality, it makes up for in balance, but I want something more expressive.
I really like Karbon as of now, I'll look more into it. I found after looking into Albert I wasn't fond of it printed which will be 80% of the chosen types job, possibly even logo development if the project so evolves.
(excitedly, this font may be at the office! i was browsing vllg.com and I have seen several faces from here on the server, *fingers crossed)Other type I've been looking at not yet mentioned is:
Prelo: http://marketplace.veer.com/font…
Haptic: http://marketplace.veer.com/font…
Gustan: http://vllg.com/LuxTypo/Gustan#p…
Gibson: http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/can…
Novel Sans Pro: http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/bur…
(but once it goes italic, i can't see ever using it)
The Aller Family if nice at Dalton http://www.daltonmaag.com/index.…
FS Jack: http://www.fontsmith.com/fonts/f…- ok im back, forgot i used a different password at the office.logi

Along the lines of Haptic, Omnes is nice. Also Brevia
http://www.dardenstudio.com/type…
http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/hvd…Although these are more rounded than techy...
National could also work for something like this

National isn't techy. It's an update of pre-Helvetica grots that have more of a workmanlike than techy feel. Prelo is great (I have both Prelo Sans and Slab), but the original kerning is really wacky imho. I've been using them for a client's entire brand ID, and we actually got in touch with the type designer and asked him to re-kern the fonts. Much better now.

Have you looked at something like Geogrotesque, Brauer or Breuer?

lawl at DB Head in your list, please please just USE so Deutsche Bahn can sue the shit out of you

lawl at adding a font to a list of inspirations? but why jimbojones? You state you want the shit sued out of me by only reading that one post, however had you read another you'd know I plan on using none of these and are the list of inspiration...
to prevent further lawls jj, I'll be sure to not tag similar fonts (especially by creator) :// but otherwise, thanks for your... nevermind. I really thought "Please note that, except where indicated, these typefaces are not available for licensing." meant I could do as I please with it.
but returning to the thread, research is still ongoing looking at nice things from places such as
http://www.a2-type.co.uk
http://www.parachute.gr
http://www.dardenstudio.com/type…revisiting
http://www.felicianotypefoundry.…
http://ourtype.comand the stuff at
http://www.daltonmaag.com
is starting to grow on the group ukit, great link for their needs.I've been in search of something more technical, but Foco seems to be a good call, thx. I'll let you know if they go with it ;)
Still shopping though & discussing tangibles of every kind. This is the kind of project you always want, but is daunting as you begin to grasp & outline the scope of needs. But after that, as the new design trickles down, that's what I'm excited for.
Thanks for all the input
:)
