Anyone have a success story?
Or are they all "we want you to work for free" / "we're idiots" / "we won't tell you the name of the company" / "we're a copy shop"

My job started as an internship I found through Craigslist in the UK.
It's the most interesting job I've ever had and the stuff I've learned in the last 7 months has been ridiculous.
Craigslist in the UK is not used nearly as much as Gumtree, and I did find the vast majority of jobs on Gumtree to be taking the piss. The amount of unpaid internships that are not short term was ridiculous.
You expect the odd month long internship to be in there but I remember quite regularly seeing 6month to year long expenses only.

Buddy of mine landed a FT illustration job through it pretty recently.
I haven't asked him about the details, but he seems to enjoy it.

all of the infographics i do are with a company i found through craigslist. I also do some great work with a development company and a lone programmer i found the same way. but yeah it's mostly shit.

it's a good learning tool, seeing how people word their requirements really allows you to cut through the bullshit after spending a day reading through posts.

there's good jobs on craigslist, you just need to wade through a lot of shit to find them... pretty much like if you've ever posted an ad on craigslist, you will be inundated with terrible applicants and perhaps 1 in 100 worth following up on.

Silly question...just look on the site itself, you'll see plenty of reputable companies post on there.

I got an extremely good job from graigslist, but that was back in 2005...
I don't think reputable sources post openings there any longer

I used Craigslist about a year and a half ago and I had 5 interviews with reputable companies that were paying well.
I may be the exception, not the rule though.
