The HBO site is a nice companion to the episodes. Watch after the episodes and not before.

I was worried about the dragons looking really cheesy, but they were not bad.
Or it could be that that I was a little distracted...

Worse than Ned Stark's ending and Red Wedding. Right?
I can't get that ending out of my head. Can a show cause PTSD?

I'd been watching the first series on blu-ray discs from lovefilm. Firstly pissed off because it was 2 episodes per disc and realised it was going to take ages to get them all through the post. Then when I get to the 3rd disc none of it is making sense and realise they have put 3 episodes on the 2nd disc. And just to stick the boot in they have put 1 episode on the 3rd disc. It's the most random set of discs ever.
A lesson learnt.

I just started watching this show about 30 days ago, and I'm all caught up to Sunday's episode. I like the show (obviously) but I'm not getting the gripping, edge of your seat, PTSD feelings I've heard other people describing (on QBN and elsewhere).
To me all the different characters makes it hard to relate to any ones in particular, and the show becomes therefor really plot-driven rather than character driven. In fact, most of the characters haven't shown much development. A few have, but mostly to give us interesting twists-- like Sansa's slight growth in this last episode. I've seen changes in Kalissi of course, and she's prob my favorite character. And Jamie Lanister has kind of come around lately too. Having a hard time thinking of other characters that have developed in a way which reveals their *inner character* beyond the artifacts of their visible actions.
Not trying to troll, just saying. If I felt more connected to the characters, I'd probably care more when they suddenly die.
- We have had 4 years to discuss and digest this show, you crammed it all into one month.DRIFTMONKEY
- Of course you won't have the same affinity for it.DRIFTMONKEY
- Not sure this show is meant to be binge watched. It's too dense.DRIFTMONKEY
- They don't develop much depth in the books either, they just kind of react to their circumstances as you would expect them.zarkonite
- expect them to.zarkonite

Did the Maester survive? I don't remember seeing him after the scene with Samwise Gamgee in the library.
