Guy didn't send me an invoice.

Had an acquaintance do some work for a project I was working on.
Project was cancelled by client, and haven't talked to the guy since.
He never sent an invoice.
I owe him money, but he was going to give me the amount.
Do I just wait and see if I run into him?

we had a job that didnt get invoiced for a couple months - we reminded the lady and she sent it along, as she had totally forgotten about it. was so happy that we pushed to pay her that she gave us the next few jobs at such a heavy discount that we made all that money back. but she continues to give us better than average rates.

Crucial piece of information:
Were you paid by the client for the work done on the project?
If so, not paying your acquaintance for his work makes you a bit of a hypothetical asshole...Just checking.

If the project got canceled, does he likely think you didn't get paid?
Why don't you ask him for an invoice? You will eventually pay him after bumping into him, why would you want to look like you were trying not to?
