I am debating whether I should upgrade from CS3 to CS5. I have heard mixed reviews and wondered if it was worth it? Any major benefits?
Also if so, I am looking at Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium, Upgrade Version from Design Premium CS2/CS3 (Mac), and the best price I can find is £819.59 (UK based) on Amazon. Anyone recommend where best to purchase from?

Hue. I did this about 4 months ago, reluctantly. to my surprise, the install went flawless and the applications are working great. i only use a handful of them, (photo, illy, indesign bridge and lightroom). anyway worked out great.

i upgraded last year. no problems so far. had to use CS3 on a friends computer a couple weeks ago and it made me appreciate CS5 a lot more.

CS5 is nice, although Indesign still takes FOREVER to load the first time after boot-up.

I think it is a pretty big leap from 3 to 5. Is not 6 around the corner though?

Sounds pretty promising! Indesign is quite quite slow already in cs3. I felt it was about time for an update, and would be good to buy it before the financial year is out. There is always a new version around the corner I guess. Found CS5 upgrade cheaper on Cancom and Amazon - cheaper that from Adobe themselves, any downside to going through a reseller rather than directly from Adobe?

I would ask your resources/vendors what version they're currently using. I think with cs6 right around the corner now would be a good time to upgrade to CS5... or shortly after cs6 is released as cs5 will drop in price considerably.

I'm gonna stick with CS5 for a while. The performance benefits of using 16gb of ram with a 64Bit OS are huge. Tack it running from an SSD and that shit flys.
Using a GTX285 card at home, so if you don't have an aftermarket card... turn off open GL enhancements in performance under prefs and it'll be snappy.

I thought it was worth it when I upgraded a few months ago. The first time I tried to install it, nothing happened. Tried again, worked fine. No issues other than discovering entirely how badly I needed to upgrade my RAM. 2GB was fine in CS3 (not great, but liveable) - but was dog slow in CS5.
