O.k. so I'm working on a logo and have an idea of what I want but am not really nailing the look. Then when "researching" I come across some patterns a company uses (not their logo) that is really close to what I'm looking for. Would using the similar pattern with some alteration be stealing or being inspired?
I think the only reason I feel like I would be stealing is because I know this person is doing it so much better than I could.
Thoughts?

it's all been done before, it's how you use it.

Patterns are just as trademarkable as logos. so I'd be careful how closely I 'referenced' their work.

voiceof - change it up a bit and you'll be ok. this style or pattern has been done before many times.reinitialize
