I'm sick of Dreamhost, any old DH customers switch to a greener knoll?

Another day of network outages, another round of thought suggesting I should just bite the bullet and pay mediatemple premium for quality customer service...
Not that I'm trying to rip on Dreamhost, but I'm tired of having major outages like this.
Can anyone recommend a good switch that doesn't take a freaking week or two to transfer over existing VPS systems?

i've been on dh for 8 years orso. i've only not switched to mediatemple due to the many many complains i've heard on qbn about their gs service being crappy.

I moved from MT to DH. I was with MT for like 6 months, and in that time it was downtime after downtime. I switched to DH 4 years ago and haven't had one issue since. I guess everyones experience is different....

Every web host is going to have it's problems. I have yet to find a perfect solution. I do think the (mt) gs is going to be a lot better in 2011 than it was in 2009 or 2010... or at least I hope.

Precisely why I think I will start migrating from wordpress and onto tumblr and other self hosted services. Imagine not paying for hosting and running your mail through google apps for free.
Anyone else thinking about this?
- i started a tumblr in december. downtime has been fucking awful. i woudln't rely on it.2

I use pair networks and I'm happy with them. Very helpful when you have questions. The don't have PHP's built in soap server enabled by default, which is weird. But, other than that their top notch and highly recommended.
- << pair was my first host. it was a rock. maybe i should never have left it.2

Thanks for the feedback so far, everytime I come back to QBN after a while away I realise what I'm missing (IMHO).
Anyways Dreamhost has been OK, but in the long run I'm more concerned about stability than deals, value is subjective anyways.

^ now I'm in the mode to hype these guys. see my notes above, but seriously good hosting. been with them for 2+ years now and haven't looked back. They also make it really easy to point domains to, and also to purchase and set up new domains within your hosting package.

Every time I've turned my back in the past month, (mt) tries to fuck me. If it wasn't such a hassle I would have left long ago.

@section_014 mentioned Pair Networks which isn't the prettiest and doesn't always have the latest gadgets but it *never* goes down. Ever. Used them for many client sites. http://pair.com
DreamHost was the first "real" hosting company I used for my own site back in the day. It was horrible, but cheap. And there it is. Horrible. Cheap. Around 2004 I moved to Media Temple and at the time MT was reliable and had great *free* phone support too. About a year after I switched their reliability started to wander downhill.
So I switched to Linode. It was a bit more work to setup (no joke there) but their support documents are uber helpful and I can run whatever languages I want. No restrictions. Wonderful. http://linode.com
I've also heard Slicehost is good.
- pair is not glam but very stable in my experience too....vaxorcist

to add something constructive, i am with A2 hosting, and they are pretty good.. granted im not running a media empire from it, but they are never down and its cheap
