Where do designers find jobs and what's the best way of advertising briefs? Are there any networks t people use?
A friend of mine has a number of smallish web projects, mainly bands and recording artists, some really well known and wants to know how to get the right people hooked up with the right job (ie. how good would it be to design a website for one of your favourite performers?).
Any suggestions?

We may know some people, who know people, who might be able to help your peoples. Word.

If there were say a project each month or so, do you reckon I should set up a page? What I don't want to do is have any sort of pitching, or waste people's time. What we would guarantee is that the briefs would be good, simple and should lead to great portfolio pieces, possibly with extra nice benefits like gig tickets etc...

Twitter and LinkedIn would be a good combo for this.
- I'm a keen LinkedIn user, though, so I'm biased.Continuity
- don't forget "dirty singles" .com - lol.akrok
- do you get work through linkedin?raf
- Well, found a FT job through it. I'm sure must be groups for things like this, though.Continuity

LinkedIn would be great but probably not through the 'job' section? Just to show your 'CV' and a link to your portfolio... Twitter would be ace for broadcasting when a job comes in.

Well, nothing says you can't do it the old-fashioned way: post on a design forum, and ask who's interested. :)

Couple of years ago, i had magnetics for my truck advertising design.
It was experimental, 90% of all the calls were from people asking for 150 dlls logos. The only good thing from that is that I got a very good client who own restaurants I'm still working with him very often on new projects!
