mobile broadband plan

anyone use a plan from verizon/tmobile? with a usb stick or mobile hotspot type device...
long story short verizon is not offering any new dsl accounts in my neighborhood. they are the only isp in my small mountain town.
I was thinking of going with tmobiles rocket stick. it has 4g transfer speeds. it would also be great because I travel a lot and it would be nice on the road. biggest downside is the 5g cap.
would 5gb per month be feasible for daily use? currently I'm building a couple of websites, and streaming a lot from lynda.com video tut's. don't know how much bandwidth I'm using but I'd imagine 5gb won't cut it even if I limit my remote server usage and didn't stream music/netflix/etc
any advice?

I have a tm*bile g1 and I tether from it.
