Here’s the thing, if we hope to venture out beyond our own solar system to the nearest star and beyond, with our current rate of technological advancement the soonest we can hope to make contact with an alien civilization is probably 1000 years.

A more likely scenario is that an alien civilization, one that’s had a couple of thousand year head start on us (or more) would reach us first.

And what would we do on this momentous occasion of first contact from our interstellar friends? Why send f16s up to shoot them down of course! Lol

humans projecting stuff on how aliens should be = fucking nuts

FROM THE DEEP Hunt for Pentagon’s infamous ‘Black Triangle’ UFO photo after fighter pilot ‘snapped mystery craft rising out of ocean’
    https://www.the-sun.com/news/314…

"The object was described as a large triangle with "blunted" edges and spherical white "lights" on each corner - and the encounter is said to have occurred off the East Coast of the US."

Here's the question that I keep thinking about: if this were an alien craft, something made by an alien intelligence so advanced that they can make it here to earth but we can't make it to where they're from, WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD THEY NEED LIGHTS ON THE CORNERS????

    • but these were "debunked" in the articles I just posted, there were literally drones swarming the ships, nothing fancy, that guy has shitty evidencegrafician

    • we went from inventing human flight to going to the fuckking Moon and having space stations then "stealth" fighters in llike 100 years...grafician
    • also all these encounters and "we don't know what they are" = plausible deniability until the last moment when these things enter active servicegrafician
    • remember nobody new about F117 stealth fighter until it was dropping bombs on Saddam in early '90s so yeah...grafician
    • Look up Kelly Johnson from Skunk Works - he said we already have all kinds of exotic capabilities, they're just locked up in black budget projectsgrafician
    • not to mention asking presidents about it? LOL you never ask a boss of a business how it is working there, he has no clue, but you ask former employees...grafician
    • Moves from 80,000 ft to sea level in 1 second...thats 54,000 mph...yeah sound like next-gen technology, LOLutopian
    • @utopian for somebody from the '90s having an iPhone is basically magic, but it's all real tech 20 years distancegrafician
    • @utopian sure, those moves look like exotic physics, but maybe someone figured out magnetic/gravity propulsion 20 years ago and we're just seeing that "magic"grafician
    • ^example, the F117 "stealth" fighter was flying early '81 and it was REVEALED in '88 so a decade between build/revealgrafician

    • It's sort of the opposite of what you would expect, government starts taking UFO seriously and then it releases everything to the public?yuekit
    • But makes sense if trying to send a message to Russia China etcyuekit
    • Yeah because man has invented something that can travel 54,000 mph, come to compete stop and then instantly traverse itself in multiple directions. - okay!utopian
    • Inventing something is implausible, but aliens zipping around while we don't notice is? :)yuekit
    • Anyway I have no idea, but you can guarantee intelligence agencies would consider this as a possibility. And that may be exactly what they wanted.yuekit
    • Lol you guys. You really think there’s footage hd from 50ft? Project crock of shit more like it.monospaced

Government Reports Say UFOs Broke Sound Barrier Without Sonic Boom. Ex-Intelligence Director confirms Navy and Air Force pilots have seen “difficult-to-explain,” “hard-to-replicate” objects.

Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe told Fox News the Pentagon has many reports about unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), including UFO sightings that haven’t been made public.

Ratcliffe said the reports contain sightings of objects making movements that “are hard to replicate” and “traveling at speeds that exceed the sound barrier without a sonic boom.”

By law, the Pentagon must report more information on UFO sightings in June.

    https://www.popularmechanics.com…

    • Unfortunately, it will be so redacted as to be useless, I'm sure.lemmy_k
    • Wasn't this fundamentally debunked as an artefact of parallax and viewing angle? If so, there wouldn't be any sonic boom as there was no supersonic speed.Nairn
    • There's a reason the US MIlitary are talking about this publicly, and I'd wager it's exactly fuck-all to do with their thinking it's anything supernatural.Nairn
    • No sonic boom as there's no air friction, those ufos seem to use electromagnetism or somethinggrafician

Leaked Government Photo Shows ‘Motionless, Cube-Shaped’ UFO

The U.S. Intelligence Community has known about the mysterious object for two years. What could it be?

An unclassified image that’s reportedly been circulated among U.S. intelligence agencies shows what appears to be unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), the Pentagon’s term for unidentified flying objects. The object in the photo has been described by U.S. officials as silver and “cube-shaped,” according to a report from The Debrief, which first shared the image.

    https://www.popularmechanics.com…

    • The object appeared to be at an altitude of about 30,000 to 35,000 feet and approximately 1,000 feet from the fighter jet.utopian
    • Funny that this hit the press the same day that our beloved Dotard was about to full disclose the existence of aliens.utopian

Has anyone checked out "Unacknowledged" on Netflix? Steven Greer has put together a pretty damn good documentary. This dude talks about the deep black programs that are unacknowledged and how false flag operations happen. Some creepy stuff.

Here's the interview with Joe Rogan

    • found very egotistical but it was written for people new to the topic it felt - if the case a brilliant doc. Those weirdos that have looked into this will learnmugwart
    • nothing new. but its incredible that this is out there and getting views.mugwart
    • Like this guy too.mugwart
    • yep it's half decent. Better than Sirius which was embarrassingly bad. Greer is a tricky character. Comes across way too interested in himself. His talks arefadein11
    • hard to watch. Massive ego. Unlike people like Richard Dolan who tackle the subject from a more academic approach.fadein11
    • Out of the Blue is still the best UFO doc by far.fadein11
    • I'll check that out faiden thxsea_sea
    • I'm not a fan of Greer on a personal level either. Something odd about him. Still, canny deny the wealth of testimony from such credible sources...set

    The Pentagon’s Mysterious U.F.O. Program

A video shows an encounter between a Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet and an unknown object. It was released by the Defense Department's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program

  • Muncher0

It makes a little sad that to this day there is still not a single credible piece of evidence for UFOs.Even in today's camera-saturated world we still have no seen a single piece of compelling evidence.

And I really WANT to believe.

    *G.P-C.

    • Today's missing word= 'Me'. It makes ME a little sad.Muncher
    • same. though last time I said this here I was told of my cognitive dissonance or some nonsense.inteliboy
    • yupmonospaced
    • Plenty of compelling evidence. Radar data. Airline pilot sightings. Belgium 'flap' , Pheonix lights etc. Etc. etc. Shit loads of evidence. Dig deep.fadein11
    • Not saying it's aliens though :)fadein11
    • And excuse all the etc's. Typing on my phonefadein11
    • I love a good Belgian flap I do. I guess I didn't mean 'evidence' so much as 'undeniable evidence', and there's so much thats obviously stuff mistaken or faked.Muncher
    • we talk about modern tech but truth be told camera phones are shit. The sensors are so-so, lens tiny bits of plastic, no zoom features then heavy ...mugwart
    • ... codec compression of something that is far away. Then operated by an ametrue in shock/adrenaline - uploaded to youtube - with more compressionmugwart
    • the normal person wont walk around with an arri film camera with a telephoto lens.mugwart
    • while most are fake, I work with VFX I can see the 'signs' but I have also seen things in the sky - the time you reach your camera its gone or you realise itmugwart
    • will look like shit. There is also the shame factor attached.mugwart
    • Even if they did they wouldn't film anything because UFOs aren't real. See also: All gods, Rods, Lochness Monster and a new Tool album.Morning_star
    • @muncher lol. I know what you mean. There isn't undeniable proof but after becoming a little obsessed with the subject for a while (from a sceptics stance) Ifadein11
    • fuzzy footage is what keeps the whole thing on the road.Fax_Benson
    • came out the other end pretty certain there is more to it than the mainstream narrative. It's an interesting subject to follow. A lot of nuts of course but alsofadein11
    • a lot of v.reasonable people who have lost/risked a lot to tell their stories.fadein11
    • But not saying it is aliens :)fadein11

I also got a bit obsessed. There is something happening - just not the latest tool album ;-(

    • Wait.. what? I thought morning_star was a known religionist here?? 'All gods'?detritus
    • I do agree that it's a fascinating subject. For instance, knowing little about the Stan Romanek case, i watched the Netflix doc. Seemed pretty compelling until.Morning_star
    • ...you 'dig deep' and realise the extent of the contrary evidence and explanation omitted from the doc. Most cases are like that.Morning_star
    • Whoah there Detritus... 'known religionist'? I'm about as anti religion as you can get. As for 'gods', i'm agnostic about a 'higher intelligence'.Morning_star
    • but the Stan Romanek case was always shit in my eyes. It stank of fakeness the 1st moment I came across it. I someone is selling DVD's of their story it'sfadein11
    • pretty certainly not worth following.fadein11
    • It was an odd circumstance as I came to the case through the Doc. Plenty of alarm bells rang and decided to explore the truth of it. It was pretty obv that ...Morning_star
    • 'pretty certainly'... oops. you know what I meant.fadein11
    • that Stan Romanek documentary on Netflix is an absolute joke, start to finish ... not a single piece of his story or footage is even remotely convincingmonospaced
    • ...it was horse-shit after a few mins of research. however, lots of people don't 'dig deep' and believe at face value. What do think the most compelling
      case?
      Morning_star
    • I'd go so far as to say that, at BEST, it sounds and looks like an average age teenager created and wrote that nonsense.monospaced
    • wtf? I'm very sorry monring_star - I thought you were fairly ardently Christian? How on Earth have I got that mixed up?! I know we've both been on the same...detritus
    • ...'side' of 'debates' on here about potential dangers in waning belief systems, but I thought we came from different sides?
      I'm seriously confused now.
      detritus
    • @morning_star. There's an English guy who has written volumes (I think there are about 3 books) of straight up statements from Police officers in the UK whofadein11
    • witnessed stuff. An obscene amount of data. He's an ex police officer who witnessed something and now encourages ex-police officers to come forward. Some offadein11
    • those are v.interesting. And the Japanese airline pilot whos sighting was backed up by radar data. Countless Pheonix lights witnesses. Rendelsham Forest. Sofadein11
    • many to list. I always tend to find the ones where people have lost a lot to tell the story the most convincing. If I have some time I will post a list offadein11
