anyone know how to get an iframe to work with in a fan page without having to click and extra link?
threadless does a nice job of this:
http://www.facebook.com/threadle…I am trying to get the comments width to be around that size but iframe and fbml are both giving me problems.

If you are looking for a facebook shop, check this:

is there a way of getting alerts for when people comment on your facebook page?

I'm under the impression that tabs no longer support iframes unless you're using a third party provider such as Buddy Media or Tab Site. There is no way to get around having a "click to load" image before an iframe as facebook requires a user initiated click to load external content. The same goes for loading video, you need to have a user initiate the click first.

You need to make an iframe facebook application that you host and then add the application to the fan page. You can use flash and really anything you want, html5, js, php in an iframe fb app.
