Yep Bjork is playing 4/5 concerts with only 500 tickets available each night in OCT when I'm there. Gonna have practice getting up early.

A note for anyone going to Iceland and renting a car to drive around the country: take CD's with you! Our car did not have an aux connection (a similar car in Ireland back in May/June did) and we were left to listen to the radio the whole time. It wasn't so bad; in some areas there were really great stations, but often just talk/news and not in English.
It may sound cliche, but i really wish I'd had some of my Sigur Ros CDs to listen to as we were driving - they're a big reason of why I wanted to go there. So, if you're going, take some cds or a mix cd with that you liked. I have a feeling that the right music would have really made the experience even more phenomenal.

I'm actually headed up to Reykjavik in November!

It's pretty much all I think about anymore. Such an amazing trip, feels so long ago and like it was just yesterday. I'd go back tomorrow in a heartbeat. The sense of isolation, the slow pace, the low population, the beauty and nature EVERYWHERE, the silence, the simplicity, the consistency of not knowing what's around the next turn in the road, the food... seriously, I feel privileged to have gone to such an amazing place.

I'm only gonna be there for a long weekend (4 days).
Any recommendations?
Is it worth it to rent a car, or should I just stick to tours?
- Centigrade0
You can rent a car... but the bus tour system is very very organised. Your call. The car is obviously more freedom and probably cheaper.
Seeing the Northern Lights over Reykjavik is an amazing event and happened twice when I was there at the weekend. People are ultra friendly and nice.
Don't waste you money on presents/trinkets.... super expensive, a Bic biro with Iceland on it will knock you back $7.00! Spend the money on good food. And the 360° restaurant in Central Hotel Arnanrhvoll is well worth it. Great price and amazing views.
- I thought it was pretty expensive to rent cars there?duckseason
- It's expensive to take bus trips too! So total up all the places you want to go... here: http://www.re.is/ vs renting a car.Centigrade

11 days until I'm there.
I think I'm going to skip the tours and go with a car.
I'm looking to take a lot of landscape photos for a side project.
I've been doing a lot of research but I'm just wondering if anyone has any specific spots/areas that should be on my list?
Also, any photo equipment recommendations (canon 40d) as I plan on renting a couple lenses before I head out.

I think of Iceland everyday since Iam back... I was there in june-july. I want to go back so so much.
For the lenses, a normal one, a wide-angle and a telephoto. Be prepare to receive rain in the lense, a pain in the ass. Use glare - sun blocker as rain deflecters. Lots of wind also. At this time of the year, i guess its gonne be cold for the hands also.
Prepared to be amazed.
Do the Golden Circle and you will see a lots of beautiful spots.

Mastodon has made a song about Iceland, FYI
***Ísland
Given decision to live
Not taken
The flight towards the light
I'll stay in the lava for life
Erupting when gods take us all
Changing the peaks makes us pour
From the mountain and burn
The path of our time
Hail people of Iceland
Journey of a land anew
Ram as our liaison
Vision inspire and move
Awe holy island
Breed the lagoon to run free
Raw beauty is ruthless within the golden ring
Precision of Grungir
Spear of the Norse God Odin
Praise our Pagan Father
Founder of the AlthingGiven decision to live
Not taken
The flight towards the light
I'll stay in the lava for life
Erupting when gods take us all
Changing the peaks makes us pour
From the mountain and burn
The path of our time
Ruler of sky's thunder
The honourable warrior
All divination
Beward the Hammer of Thor
Lava goddess
Ice and fire
Settling down
