"The Timeline Preventor"
All you need to do is put some validation in the URL field of the PV that detetcts whether a URL has been posted before.
Then it gives the user the option to still want to go ahead with the submission or cancel

or populate the public choice with the most linked to websites for that week.

I think QBN has one of those. It doesn't allow you to post duplicate links to the QBN public chooser.

QBN is perfect as it is, in terms of serving the owners's goals.
If there is one thing the owners know about granting feature requests it is that they will bring more feature requests.
Hence their policy not to give a shit works well for them.

new idea for the internet: whenever a question is posted somewhere, the useless banter in the replies gets removed, and you only get actual solutions. patent pending.

Today we celebrate the first, glorious anniversary of the Information Purification Directive! We have created, for the first time in all history, a garden of pure ideology, where each worker may bloom secure from the pests of contradictory and confusing truths. Our Unification of Thought is a more powerful weapon than any fleet or army on Earth! We are one people. With one will. One resolve. One cause. Our enemies shall talk themselves to death. And we will bury them with their own confusion! We shall prevail!
On January 24th Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you'll see why 1984 won't be like "1984".

Sounds like a good idea for me. It's easy to miss a post.
It's a pain in the arse to google it too. Finally, if it gives you the option to still submit an article, you're safe to link to updates.

how about this:
when you make a new thread instead of "broadcast live" it says "preview". click it and it'll show you a preview of your thread, with a list of similar threads that contain keywords form your new one.
chances are, your topic will already have been covered and will appear in the list. if not, you go ahead and click "broadcast live".
- i've sen this work beautifully on other forumsscarabin
- thats a pretty sweet idea
what forums u seen it in ?WeLoveNoise - Dunno about forums but I've seen something similar on diggkalkal
