I have been asked by a client to do some simple animations for a theater production, but have never touched the program. I am looking at this as a good opportunity to learn the software, but need suggestions for good videos to get my started. The internet has vast amounts of shit. Anyone?

VideoCopilot.net - Really helped me get my feet wet. Their basic training is pretty killer in terms of introducing you to the program.
Also I had a similar question a week or so ago and some awfully kind QBN'ers hooked me up:

Having never touched the program before, I would second the notion of using Lynda.com
If you're bookish, Adobe's Classroom in a Book series is great.
