i just sold my music collection.
i lost my hearing back in may- so figured i dont really need the music any more... yet there were some albums that i just couldnt part with (cash, dmb, beatles)
made me realize that there's a lot of junk i've gathered over the years that i dont ever (or have never) used.
6 years ago, everything i owned fit into 4 suitcases... now i own half of china's plastic.
what kind of stuff have you gathered that you dont need but cant seem to get rid of?

sorry about your hearing. are you completely deaf?
i throw out a lot of stuff, can't stand clutter. i can literally count the number of objects in my bedroom on two hands. my thinking is, if i haven't used something in the past month, i toss it out.
any sentimental bits i keep in a vintage cuban cigar box on the coffee table... that and two big books of basketball cards from when i was a kid - i can't toss those! oh, and books, i can't bring myself to trash 'em.

Don't mean to pry, and tell me to get lost if it's not something you want to share, but how exactly did you lose your hearing?
Too many loud shows? Another accident?

Kind of throws up that 'album art' question....
I couldn't part with the covers.....especially my prized Electro's 1-11.

I had no idea Ben.
Magazines. I have truckloads of magazines. Old skate magazines, surfing magazines, Rolling Stone issues. I somehow think that at some point I'll need to reference something in one of them. They just keep piling up. It can't be healthy.

Just woke up one day and it was gone, first the left one, then about 2-3 weeks later the right. dr's say it's probably some type of acute sensory loss and there's no know cause from looking inside me- but they say that it's gone for good. hardest part was trying to learn to communicate with the kids, but we're working all that out pretty well now.
pros:
i work from home, so the noise of the kids doesnt bother me.
no annoying calls from telemarketers.
in-laws stayed for 3 weeks over the summer.besides, at least i'm not ugly... i dont think i could handle that. (if i am, dont tell me)
but it's really helped me get rid of a lot of this junk in my house. i have 2 push mowers....

as you get older, you find that your hearing, your vision, your mind will start drifting away. Other things like your hair, your erections will also begin to fade away.

That sucks but I wonder if there are remedies out there. I've heard they already have been able to restore hearing to deaf people in some situations. Rush Limbaugh, of all people, apparently had the same thing happen to him in one ear.
